Medical steroids side effects.

I’m 35 and 2 days ago needed to get steroids injected into my hand and wrist for the first time in my life because of a genetic disease that’s causing me pain. The shots worked wonders (other than a bit nauseous) but from what I read they make you “fuller” in fatty areas of the body. I’m curious if anyone has experienced this and if it is actually true.

Generally it’s something unwanted, but Im totally here for a magic shot that’s going to make me appear fatter than normal smiley

Any insight would be lovely, have a nice day everyone!

Medical steroids side effects.

There are some medical issues that can require long term or repeated use of steroids ( respiratory disease, for example) it is usually in these situations that the moon face and other trunk thickness is noted.

With a round or two of shots you'll be more likely to pack on a few more pounds because it'll make you hungry.

Medical steroids side effects.

I've been on corticosteroids many many times in my life because of my Crohn's Disease. Yes, they can cause quite a lot of weight gain. But, they have so many other horrid side effects.
The weight gain comes from increased appetite, water retention, and fat redistribution. It basically causes Cushing's Syndrome. Look that up if you wanna see what can happen. You also usually need to be on steroids for a decent amount of time for the weight gain side effects to happen. It's also dose-dependent. You have to be on them for usually weeks to months to get the full effect and it has to be systemic steroids. Which are the pills you swallow or IV injections. If it's a topical cream or injection to a specific spot then it isn't systemic. Yes, some can get into your bloodstream but usually not enough. Any question, lemme know smiley I'm not a doctor, but do have years and years of experience with them and have researched them a lot. But, don't take this as medical advise or anything smiley Best of luck!
